The Accessibility Resource Center (ARC) at University of Tennessee at Martin offers Executive Function Coaching to help students develop the skills needed to succeed in college and beyond.
This individualized, one-on-one service supports organization, time management, focus, and self-regulation. It can be especially beneficial for students with ADHD, social anxiety, and other executive functioning challenges as they navigate college life.
Executive Function Coaching is a collaborative, goal-oriented full-semester process that helps students build practical strategies for managing academic and daily responsibilities.
Executive Function Coaching is an evidence-informed approach that goes beyond accommodations. Students actively modify their environments and build skills that can support long-term academic success and independence.
“I was constantly missing deadlines and feeling totally overwhelmed. I really struggled with looking at the challenges of the weeks or months ahead and figuring out where to start. I was diagnosed with ADHD at 13 and I was never really taught how to manage my life or work together with my brain…I really struggled with finding motivation to start a task and how to focus on class.”
Students meet weekly, one-on-one, in a supportive and structured environment. Sessions are practical, encouraging, and focused on real-time academic needs.
“After a few visits I actually started managing stress a little better and having a better understanding of my brain and how I needed to view my course work.”
