Step 1: Get Your Software and Product Code

What you need to know: When you buy Read&Write, you'll get an email with a special code called your "Product Code." Think of this like a key that unlocks your software.

What to do:

💡 Helpful tip: Can't find your email? Check your spam folder or contact support.

If you are having trouble finding the file you downloaded:

Make sure you have the "View tab" selected in your file explorer settings. This will show options to control the view of files.

After you check the "Hidden Items" option, you should be able to see the downloaded file in your Downloads folder.

Step 2: Easy Installation (If Your School/Work Uses Google or Microsoft)

This is for you if: Your school or workplace uses Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Docs) or Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word Online).

What to do: Install Read&Write the same way you normally install programs. When it asks you to sign in, use your school or work account.

💡 Not sure? Ask your IT person or teacher if your school uses Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.

Step 3: Installation for Schools/Workplaces (Without Google or Microsoft)

This is for you if: Your school or workplace doesn't use Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, OR you're not sure.

What this means: You'll need to use a special setup tool to prepare the software for multiple people to use.

What to do:

  1. Use the "Multi-User Setup Tool" (this creates a special installation file)
  2. This creates a file called "ReadAndWriteConfig.msi" - think of this as a customized installer
  3. Install both this file and the main Read&Write program

Step 4: Skip the Sign-In (Optional)

This is for you if: You want people to use Read&Write without having to create accounts or sign in.

What to do: When using the Multi-User Setup Tool, choose the option that says "no sign-in required." This lets people use the software immediately without creating accounts.

💡 Good to know: This is helpful in classrooms where you don't want students to worry about passwords.

Step 5: Save Everyone's Preferences in One Place

What this means: When people customize Read&Write (like changing colors or voice settings), you can save those preferences in a shared location so they're available on any computer.

What to do:

  1. In the Multi-User Setup Tool, choose "In a network folder of my choice"
  2. Pick a shared folder that everyone can access (ask your IT person for help)
  3. Make sure the folder has the right permissions - there should be two folders inside called "Admin" and "Users"
💡 Why this helps: Students can sit at any computer and have their personal Read&Write settings follow them.
